Welcome to GTest Canada ("we," "our," or "us"). We operate the website GTest Canada, a free informational resource to help Ontario residents prepare for their G1, G2, and G driving tests. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our website.

2. Information We Collect

Third-party advertising is not displayed on the school-specific landing pages (e.g. /school/YOURCODE) or on the Schools & Boards page (/schools).

6. Student Safe Driving Program — School Referral Data Practices

GTestCanada operates a voluntary school referral program ("Student Safe Driving Program") that allows Ontario secondary schools to share GTestCanada with their students via a unique referral link. The following describes the actual data practices of this program as implemented.

6a. Student Name

When a student visits via a school referral link, they are invited (but not required) to enter their first name on the school landing page. If entered, the student's name is stored exclusively in the student's own browser using localStorage. The student's name is not transmitted to our servers, not stored in our database, and not shared with the referring school or any third party.

6b. Anonymous Session Identifier (studentSessionId)

When a student visits via a school referral link, a random UUID v4 (studentSessionId) is generated in their browser. This identifier has no connection to the student's name, email address, or any personal data. It is used solely to attribute an optional purchase to the referring school if the student later purchases the G1 3-Day Pass.

6c. Referral Token

After a student's browser submits the studentSessionId to our server (via POST /api/schools/:schoolId/session), our server verifies that the school code is active and issues a cryptographically signed referral token (HMAC-SHA256). This token is stored in the student's browser (localStorage key: gtc_school_token). The token encodes the school code, the anonymous studentSessionId, and an issuance timestamp. It expires after 30 days. The token does not encode the student's name or any personal identity.

6d. School Attribution on Optional Purchases

If a student purchases the optional G1 3-Day Pass (CA$1.75), the purchase record stored in our database includes:

•The referring school's code (e.g. "TDSB01") — a short alphanumeric identifier, not the school's full name.
•The anonymous studentSessionId (a random UUID with no connection to the student's identity).
•The Stripe session ID, purchase timestamp, and amount.
•The purchaser's email address (provided by the student at Stripe checkout).

The student's name is not stored in the purchase record. The referring school does not receive any information about which students purchased or visited the platform.

6e. Payment Processing (Stripe)

Payment processing for the optional G1 3-Day Pass is handled entirely by Stripe. GTestCanada does not store credit card numbers, full card details, or other payment instrument data. Stripe's Privacy Policy governs the handling of payment information.

6f. Data Retention

Referral tokens stored in the student's browser expire after 30 days and are removed from localStorage automatically. Purchase records (including school attribution and anonymous session IDs) are retained in our database for as long as necessary to support the service and comply with applicable legal and financial record-keeping obligations. 6g. Data Shared with Schools

Schools do not receive any student-level data. Upon request, GTestCanada may provide a school with aggregate, non-personal usage statistics for their referral link (e.g. total number of visits via the school's link). No individual student data is included in any such report.

7. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Data

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Any data shared with third parties (such as Stripe for payment processing, or advertising networks for ad serving) is governed by their own privacy policies.

8. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, including the Ontario DriveTest website and other resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

9. Children's Privacy

Our website is intended for users who are at least 16 years old (the minimum age to obtain a G1 licence in Ontario). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

•Access the personal data we hold about you.
•Request correction of inaccurate data.
•Request deletion of your data.
•Opt out of personalized advertising.
