Frequently Asked Questions
What documents do I need for the Ontario road test?
You need: your valid Ontario driver's licence (G1 or G2), your vehicle permit (ownership), and proof of valid insurance for the vehicle. Without all three, you cannot test.
Can I use a borrowed or rental car for the G test?
Yes. You can use any roadworthy vehicle. Bring the vehicle permit and insurance documents for that vehicle. The car must have working lights, signals, mirrors, and brakes.
What if I arrive late to my DriveTest appointment?
DriveTest centres may cancel your appointment if you arrive late. Aim to arrive 15–20 minutes early. Late arrivals forfeit their fee.
Should I practise the day before my test?
A short, relaxed practice drive the day before is beneficial. Avoid long exhausting sessions. Focus on any weak areas identified in recent lessons.
What should I eat before the G test?
Eat a normal meal. Avoid heavy foods that cause drowsiness. Stay hydrated. Avoid excessive caffeine which can increase anxiety.
